    Professional Objectives

​

 

​Objective One:           To do a stand up by the time I am finished with the internship.​

Activities/ Resources: ​​

​               -Attend morning meetings in which top breaking news stories are discussed and distributed ​amongst news                  reporters and anchors.

                -Observe news reporters and anchors while they are on set or on their field doing their stand up

                -Befriend as many people in the EWN department that could possibly help and give me advice

                -Do an independent research on ENPS (Electronic News Production System which EWN uses to  communicate with one another through internet)  

Evidence:

I will include in my portfolio an example of a morning meeting split sheet document and  assignment documents that I may receive to do my stand up.

​Objective Two: ​To write my own script for my stand up and to gain a better understanding of this particular business and befriend different people within the news department.

​​Activities/Resources:

​-Independent research through ENPS in which I can use other reporters scripts as samples of what a stand up should consist of

-Do independent research on the background of the story I’m working on

-Make sure my script is no more than one minute and it covers all the main points (who, what, where, when, how and why)

-Befriend others in various positions within the Eyewitness News department

​Evidence:

  I will include in my portfolio,  snap shots of my scripts that I intend to write as well as informational links of reporters stand ups that I will use to help guide me in writing my scripts.

 

 

 

​ Objective Three:​ Be able to conduct and submit a potential news story that can be used for airing live.

​Activities/Resources:

-Pick up as many phone calls as possible

-Write each phone call message that may have potential in becoming a news story

-Follow up story with one of the assignment editors

Evidence:​​

I will include in this evidence a direct e-mail I sent to one of the assignment news editors.

​​ ​Objective Four: Finalize my reel by the time I leave my internship on December 11,2012.
​​​​​Activities/Resources:

              -Do at least two stand ups

              -Do a “read in” on set at the ABC studio

              -Edit and combine tapes to be finalized in the editing room.

Evidence:

I will include in my portfolio a finished reel that will consist my stand ups, a read, snap shots of my written scripts and photos of me on set.
